Carleton University Scholarships were introduced in 1989 to provide a mechanism for addressing financial needs and/or recognizing academic merit and outstanding achievement.

There are many categories of scholarships available and they are all available on the Awards Registry. The various scholarships being offered and the eligibility requirements will be described on this page.

About Carleton University Scholarships

Located in the capital city of Ottawa in Canada, Carleton University was established in the year 1942 and is one of the most famous public universities in Ontario, Canada. Carleton offers a wide range of courses in more than 65 academic programs.

The university is well-known for its engineering, international business, humanities, and industrial design courses. The university currently has more than 22,000 undergraduates and around 3,500 postgraduates from all over the world.

Carleton offers a wide range of courses in engineering, physics, business management, IT, and even oceans and paleontology.

More than 1500 courses are listed on the university’s website. The university is only able to offer such a stimulating array of courses due to the network of top-tier professors from some of the best global universities, including Peking and Harvard.

Carleton University Scholarships

Carleton University has one of the most generous scholarship and bursary programs in Canada. Last year, more than 14,700 scholarships and bursaries totaling over $28.6 million were awarded to undergraduate students.

Entrance Scholarships

If you have been admitted to Carleton with an admissions average of 80 percent or better, you will automatically be considered for a renewable Entrance Scholarship at the time of admission. 

International students are also eligible for these merit-based entrance scholarships. 

To be considered for an Entrance Scholarship, Carleton’s Admissions Services must receive your complete application for admission and all required grades (either directly or through the Ontario Universities Application Centre) by June 19 (deadline)

Entrance Scholarship offers are not assessed or reassessed on final high school grades.

Prestige Scholarships

You will be considered for a Prestige Scholarship only if you are entering Carleton directly from high school or CEGEP. For all Prestige Scholarships, you must achieve an admission average of 90 percent or better. 

The selection committee will also assess the range of your community or secondary school extracurricular activities. An application is required. The deadline is March 1.

Additional Entrance Scholarships

Carleton Capital Scholarship 

Up to 13 students will be selected annually, with one recipient for each province and territory, to receive a $2,000 award in their first year. 

To be eligible for the Carleton Capital Scholarship, students must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons entering the first year of a degree program and pursuing post-secondary studies for the first time.

Awards for International Students

In addition to the Entrance Scholarships, international students applying for September 2022 will also be automatically considered for either the International Award of Excellence OR the International Award of Merit.

Sprott School of Business Scholarships

The Dean’s Entrance Scholarship of Excellence, valued at $2,000 or $4,000, will be awarded to the top students entering the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce program.

Faculty of Engineering and Design Scholarships

Up to 60 scholarships, valued at $1,000 to $5,000, will be awarded to the top students who are entering selected Bachelor of Engineering programs.

Page Program Entrance Scholarships

Up to 15 scholarships will be awarded to students in the House of Commons Page Program who are entering an undergraduate degree program at Carleton.

Arthur Kroeger College National Scholarships

Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded to students entering the Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management program.

Collins Memorial Entrance Scholarships for Earth Sciences

  • Two or more scholarships, valued at $1,000 to $4,000, will be awarded to students entering the first year of an Earth Sciences program.

The Law Scholarship in Architectural Studies

  • A $10,000 scholarship is available annually to an outstanding full-time undergraduate international student entering the Bachelor of Architectural Studies.
